Leukemia Tissue Bank

Clara D. Bloomfield, M.D. Director |
The OSUCCC Leukemia Tissue Bank (LTB) Shared Resource
operates under the leadership of The Ohio State University Comprehensive Cancer
Center and recently established Best Practices established by the National
Cancer Center Office of Biorepositories and Biospecimen Research (OBBR).http://biospecimens.cancer.gov/index.asp.
The LTB is located in the Tzagournis
Medical Research Facility and maintains a large specimen collection of leukemia
tissues and those of other related hematologic malignancies. All of the essentials of effective Biorepository
management are well developed including activities for patient consent and
confidentiality, tissue collection, viable cell procurement and
cryopreservation, inventory management, quality control of specimens, tissue
storage, protocol review and specimen
distribution. Our success in managing this large tissue resource can be seen in
the list of studies (see publications)
in which the LTB has played a
significant role. The LTB is therefore
positioned to provide key support to the research mission of the OSUCCC in
producing high-quality basic and clinical research.
