The genotyping shared resource supports the identification of loss of heterozygosity (LOH), microsatellite instability (MSI) and genetic mapping using microsatellite markers. We routinely use the ABI SNaPshot Multiplex System (Applied Biosystems) for SNP analysis on one of the two 48-capillary Applied Biosystems 3730 DNA Analyzers.
Results are processed with GeneMapper v3.7 (Applied Biosystems). The facility will provide training in the use of GeneMapper to analyze data, or data can be returned after analysis in the form of PDF files for chromatographs and Excel files for numerical data.
We ask researchers to consult with the facility prior to submitting a genotyping request and if possible before starting the genotyping PCR. This helps both parties understand the experimental requirements and decreases turn around time.
