The function of the imaging systems is to simplify, automate, and accelerate DNA, RNA and protein analysis experiments.
The Typhoon and the Personal Densitometer are located in the hallway in front of BRT 236 with unlimited access after hours and weekends. There is no need for a reservation, just walk in. Phosphor screens, 20 x 25 cm, including cassettes, are available.

The Molecular Dynamics Typhoon 9410 Variable Mode Imager combines four-color fluorescence labeling techniques with storage phosphor autoradiography technology.
The Typhoon scans mounted and unmounted storage phosphor screens, plus gels and blots up to 35 x 43 cm as well as microarray slides. It includes Typhoon scan control and ImageQuant analysis software v5.2 for Windows operating systems.
The Typhoon handles gel sandwiches, agarose and polyacrylamide gels, membranes, microplates, macro- and microarrays, tissue sections, radio-TLC and X-Ray diffraction. An automated four-color fluorescence scanning allows multiplexing of multiple targets in the same sample.

Storage phosphor technology delivers high-resolution imaging and accurate quantitation of 3H, 14C, 125I, 32P, 33P, 35S, and other sources of ionizing radiation.
Highly sensitive optics enable direct chemiluminescent imaging without intermediate exposure to films or screens.
The Personal Densitometer SI uses a laser scanner (1 mW Helium-Neon laser, Wavelength: 632.8nm) to quantify:
It is a highly sensitive laser-based transmission densitometer, with a linear range from 0.1-3.5 OD, and a high-efficiency light collection for accurate quantification.
The Personal Densitometer SI includes scan control and ImageQuant analysis software v5.2 for Windows operating systems.
